	Heike Rose Schmidt-Pfeil


	Für die Umsetzung ihrer “Reliefbilder” und “Blumen” aus gewalztem Aluminiumblech arbeitet Heike Rose mit Plasmacut und Arc-Lichtbogen. Die Motive werden mit einem Plasmacutter (25.000° C) in die Aluminiumplatten geschnitten. Einzelne Elemente werden aus dem Bild herausgelöst und durch Schweißen wieder verbunden, wodurch die Reliefstruktur der Aluminiumbilder entsteht. Als gestalterisches Moment der Werke bearbeitet die Künstlerin die Metallplatten nochmals mit dem Lichtbogen, dadurch entstehen malerische Texturen sowie verschiedene Grau-Weiß- und Schwarzstufen. Die Coloration der Aluminiumflächen und ihre Bearbeitung mit einem Sandstrahlgerät, Sandpapier in unterschiedlichen Stärken und Schleifwerkzeugen bewirken zusätzliche Variationen der Oberflächengestaltung.


	To create her “relief images” and “Flowers” out of rolled aluminium sheet Heike Rose works with plasmacut and arc torches. The motifs are cut into aluminium plates with a plasma cutter (45032°F). Individual elements are detached from the image and rejoined by welding to produce the relief structure of the aluminium images. To produce creative effects the artists again works on the metal plates with the arc and produce painterly textures and various grey, white and black gradations. The coloration of the aluminium surfaces and their treatment with a sand-blaster, sandpaper of various grades, and grinding tools, produce additional variations of the surface finish.

Die Aluminiumbilder und Objekte von Heike Rose bezeichnen Gegenwelten zwischen Abwesenheit, Erinnerungsspuren und berückender sinnlicher Präsenz. Sie sind jedoch vor allem Denkfiguren über kulturelle und soziale Normierungen. Treten die expressiv stilisierten Frauenfiguren buchstäblich aus der Form des Bildträgers heraus, so scheinen sie zugleich den Rahmen des in ihnen imaginierten Weiblichkeitsideals selbst infrage zu stellen.

Heike Rose´s aluminium pictures and objects signify counterworlds between absence, traces of remembrance, and captivating sensual presence. Yet they are particularly figures of thought about cultural and social norms. „Blumen“
Kleines ganz groß
Mit den Skulpturen „Blumen“ widmet sich Heike Rose den kleinen Dingen und zeigt sie ganz groß. Indem sie diese in überdimensionaler Größe präsentiert, erscheint alles Große auf einmal klein. In der Konsequenz wirkt Wichtiges unbedeutend und scheinbar Bedeutungsloses wichtig. Unsere Wahrnehmung verschiebt sich und taucht Bekanntes und Alltägliches in ein neues Licht. Die überdimensionierten Blumen sind außerdem Sinnbilder des Lebens, des Entstehens und Vergehens.

„Flowers“
Small made Large
With the sculpture „Flowers“ Heike Rose shows a dedication to small things, but displays them on a large scale. In so doing, she presents these in oversized dimensions in which everything large appears at once very small. As a result the important appears unimportant and the seeming meaningless important. Our perceptions alter and adorn the familiar and everyday in new light. The oversized flowers are additionally tactile pictures of life as examples creation and of passing.

	Memento Mori!

Einzelne Objekte als “Memento Mori”
Handtaschen und Markenschuhe sind Statussymbole. Jede Auswahl der Kleidung verrät etwas über den Habitus des jeweiligen Besitzers, wobei sie gleichzeitig ein Kollektivportrait darstellt. Durch die Auswahl und Zusammenstellung der Objekte wird der thematische Zusammenhang deutlich: Der Mensch ist trotz aller Vergänglichkeit bestrebt, sich allein über den Besitz von Macht und materiellen Konstanten zu definieren. In den allegorischen und moralisierenden Bildern erlebte das „Memento mori“ („Gedenken des Todes“) immer neue Variationen. Die Handtasche, die „High-Heels“ oder der Hut von Heike Rose sind Vanitas-Stillleben des 21. Jahrhunderts in dreidimensionaler Form. Paradoxerweise sind die vergänglichen Objekte hier in Silizium-Aluminium gegossen und so für die Ewigkeit konserviert. Sie mögen auch den Betrachter heute noch gemahnen, dass weltliches Hab und Gut nicht mit ins Jenseits genommen werden kann.

Individual Objects as “Memento mori”
Handbags and brand name shoes are status symbols. Every choice of clothing gives away the habits of the owner, whilst they simultaneously display a collective portrait. How much people are defined by their choice and placing of objects is clearly definable, after all; people are despite all their worries about the perishability of things defined solely on the constants of the accumulation of power and of material possessions. Through these the allegorical and moralizing pictures the „Memento Mori” („Thoughts of Death”) were lived out in a series of ever changing artistic variations. The handbag, the High Heels, or the hut by Heike Rose are examples of Vanitas Still Life in the 21st century in three-dimensional form. Paradoxically, perishable objects are casted in silicon- aluminium and with that are preserved forever. They intend to serve as reminders that worldly status and possession cannot be pass over into kingdom come.
